VFW Post 6878 provides a way for folks to retire their flags in a dignified manner. Each year on Flag Day, we have a retirement ceremony where all the flags that have been dropped off at the VFW Post 6878 main building in the Flag Retirement box are burned is a respectible manner with the ashes later being buried.
Flag Day (June 14th each year) is the day VFW Post 6878 joined with Boy Scout Troop 38 perform the ceremony of retiring the flags that have filled their terms of display and have been dropped off at the post. It happens in the rear lot of the post near the Pavilion (Shelter). It is open to the public.
VFW Post 6878 keeps a Flag Retirement Wooden Box at the entrance of the post.
We encourage folks to drop off their flags that they would like to be properly and respectfully taken care of. This can be done at your convenience. The post does not have to be open for anyone to drop off their flags.
